In anticipation of the fall rush for new connections, the Information Technology Unit (ITU) has asked that all requests for changes be submitted no later than Thursday, Aug. 1, for work to be scheduled before Aug. 19.
“The start of a new academic year means a sharp increase in technology support needs as new faculty, staff, and students arrive at the university needing computers, telephones, new accounts, and other support in order to begin work,” says Anne Agee, executive director of the Division of Instructional and Technology Support Services. “From mid-August to early September, the ITU gives priority to getting new faculty, staff, and students set up to get right into the swing of things at Mason. Therefore, we are asking our existing clients to please plan ahead.”
Beginning Monday, Aug. 19, through Friday, Sept. 6, the staff will focus its resources on providing technology support services to new accounts. Repair services for computers, telephones, and applications will also be provided for all faculty and staff. But installations and changes to existing computers, voice mail, and phones for faculty or staff will be coordinated on a first-come-first-served basis after student and new faculty and staff requests for service and repairs are addressed.
Requests for changes to existing services, including moves, submitted after Aug. 1 will be scheduled after Sept. 6.
For more information, or to submit a request for service, contact the ITU Support Center at (703) 993-8870 or email@example.com. Clients at the Law School should call (703) 993-4855.
