George Mason will be the site of the Symposium Application Review Panel for the Dissertations Symposium for the Advancement of Coastal, Estuarine, and Great Lakes Research (DIACES) on Friday, July 19.
The panel, hosted by the university’s Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) Department, will bring together aquatic scientists from institutions in the United States and abroad to review applications from more than 70 recent Ph.D. graduates from around the globe who would like to attend the DIACES this fall in Puerto Rico. Among the review panelists is ESP Chair R. Chris Jones.
Sponsored by the Estuarine Research Federation with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, DIACES is a capstone experience for recent Ph.D.’s that fosters interdisciplinary understanding, early career development, and peer networking. The symposium’s overall goal is to promote understanding of coastal and estuarine environments and foster sound research, policy, and management practices.
