Softball Players Earn Region Honors

George Mason seniors Linda Young and Dee Dee Fox have been selected to the 2002 Louisville Slugger Division I Mid-Atlantic Region softball all-region first team. The various all-region teams were chosen in voting by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Young was a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selection as she batted .332 with 23 doubles, 7 home runs, and 50 runs batted in. She set George Mason single-season records for doubles, home runs and RBI, and she led the CAA in each category as well as with a .563 slugging percentage.
Fox also was an All-CAA first-team choice as she batted .313 with 8 doubles, 2 home runs and 14 RBI. She led the Patriots and the conference with 28 stolen bases, pacing George Mason for the third time in four seasons. Fox tied for the team lead with 26 walks, tied for second with 34 runs and was third in home runs.
