George Mason’s enrollment for summer 2002 has already exceeded the total enrolled for summer 2001, according to statistics tracked by the Office of Institutional Research and Reporting (IRR). “Last year’s summer headcount enrollment figure was 10,769, and as of June 25, this year’s summer enrollment is 11,207,” says Meihua Zhai, director of IRR.
The university is offering 935 courses during the summer sessions to handle this enrollment increase, says Zhai. “This is an increase in course offerings over last year when we offered approximately 915 courses. So now when people outside the university ask if you ‘still work’ during the summer months, you can easily respond with ‘harder than ever!'”
Summer enrollment figures change every day and can be tracked at the IRR daily student enrollment web site. The final official enrollment figures for summer 2002 will be available after Wednesday, July 10.
