The Program on Social and Organizational Learning (PSOL) in the School of Public Policy is offering a Master of Science in New Professional Studies in Knowledge Management for the first time this fall.

The new program is designed for those who have completed the chief information officer or advanced management certificate programs at the National Defense University’s Information Resources Management College. After completing these technical certificates, participants learn about the “people side of knowledge management” and are introduced to knowledge management as a way of organizing, collaborating, and participating, according to Mark Addleson, director of PSOL.

“People are rethinking what knowledge means and what it takes to manage an organization,” says Addleson. “If knowledge is supposed to move around an organization, you have to ask how you make that happen. These courses focus on knowledge sharing, collaboration, and work groups, and are supported by collaborative technology and the practice of knowledge sharing using the technology.”
