Commencement will be broadcast live on GMU-TV tomorrow starting with the students’ new traditional walk from the Johnson Center South Plaza, weather permitting.

Cameras will start rolling in the Patriot Center about 15 minutes before the actual ceremony starts at 10 a.m. “showing bits of audience members waving and the graduates as they’re marching,” says B. Steven Watson Jr., senior producer of GMU-TV. “We will tape the entire ceremony, including the students walking in, the doctoral hooding, all of the speakers, the students cheering, the audience, just about everything that happens.”

Watson expects to have 12 crew members operating four cameras inside the Patriot Center. “We will have one roaming camera that will be able to move up and down the aisles of students as they’re called to stand in recognition of their degrees.”

GMU-TV will run commencement highlights 16 times over the next two weeks. To view the broadcast schedule, or to order a copy of the commencement video for $15, visit the GMU-TV web site.
