Patriots Garner All-Conference Awards, Fulcher Wins Coach of the Year

The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) announced its All-Conference team at the CAA softball banquet at the University of Hofstra. Head coach Beth Fulcher won the coveted Coach of the Year award, while freshman Stacy James was named Rookie of the Year. Seniors Linda Young and Dee Dee Fox joined James on the All-CAA first team, and senior pitcher Jill Regan was named All-CAA second team.

Fulcher is in her fifth season with the Patriots and has just completed her most successful regular season with an overall record of 39-17. In those 39 wins, the Patriots put together win streaks of 10 and 7, as well as improving their win total by 17 from last season.

James has been outstanding for the Patriots. She is nationally ranked for batting average, hitting .400. James broke school records in batting average in a season and hits in a season with 72.

Leading the conference in four statistical categories–RBI, total bases, doubles, and home runs–Young has broken several school records this year. Fox led the conference in stolen bases this season with 27. Regan posted an 11-2 record this season with one save, while having a conference-leading 1.39 ERA.
