Patriots Perform Well at Penn Relays

The George Mason men’s and women’s track and field teams had several successful performances at the 108th running of the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

Senior All-American Chris Stokes led the men’s team with a 5th-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles in 13.98 seconds. Sophomore LaToya Phillips led the women’s team with a 3rd-place finish in the Eastern Division long jump with a 19 foot, 41/4-inch performance. Sophomore Corri Allen placed 13th with a jump of 17 feet, 83/4 inches, and sophomore Kim was 15th with a 17-foot, 71/2-inch mark.

Sophomore Lauren Chesnut finished 11th in the Championship of America triple jump with a leap of 38 feet, 23/4 inches, while Allen placed 13th in the Eastern triple jump with a 37-foot, 6-inch performance. Senior Marion Mason placed 10th in the Eastern Division men’s long jump with a 22-foot, 53/4-inch jump.

Both track and field teams return to competition this weekend hosting the Patriot Invitational on Saturday, May 4, at George Mason Stadium.
