The awards continue to roll in for the men’s basketball team with Jesse Young’s selection to the All-Virginia University Division second team in voting by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Young earlier earned first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors and was selected as the CAA Most Valuable Player by CollegeInsider.com.

Young was George Mason’s statistical leader for much of the season and finished with averages of 14.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.0 blocked shots per game, and he also paced the team with a .484 field goal percentage. In all games, he ranked eighth in the CAA in scoring, second in rebounding, fourth in field goal percentage, and fifth in blocks.

George Mason finished the season 19-10 overall, 13-5 and in second place in the CAA. The Patriots made their second-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament, falling at home to Saint Joseph’s, 73-64.
