George Mason senior infielder Adam Shorts has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week for baseball. The honor is the first for Shorts, and covers games through April 14.

Shorts batted .600 with a double, two home runs, seven runs batted in (RBI), and five stolen bases as George Mason (20-17 overall, 7-1 CAA) capped a perfect 4-0 week with a three-game sweep at conference foe Hofstra. Playing at both third base and first base, he extended a five-game hitting streak by going 3-3 with a home run and three RBI Friday, and he was 2-4 with a homer and four RBI in Sunday’s series finale.

“Adam has our best combination of power and speed, and when he puts it all together like he has the last few weeks, he is one of the best players in the CAA,” says head coach Bill Brown. “He is a five-tool player who has provided us with a huge boost during this critical part of the season.”
