The Athletic Department will spotlight selected spring sports competitions designated in the “Spring Sports Spirit Series” as Patriot teams prepare for championship participation with targeted key local contests in eight different sports.

“The Spirit Series will help identify key games for our teams during a busy period in the semester at the university,” says Tom O’Connor, athletics director. “It is our hope that this will add even more to the spirit of competition, and will heighten awareness of our outstanding student-athletes and teams.”

The first official contest in the series began last week when the women’s lacrosse team met nationally-ranked North Carolina, and the men’s and women’s tennis teams hosted Gardner-Webb. The remaining games in the series are:

  • men’s volleyball–April 12, 7:30 p.m., versus Penn State in the PE/Linn Gym
  • men’s golf–April 19-21, 7:30 a.m., at The Crossings
  • baseball–April 27, 2 p.m., versus James Madison at Spuhler Field
  • men’s and women’s track–May 4, 11 a.m., at George Mason Stadium
  • rowing–May 5, 7 a.m., at the Occoquan Reservoir
  • softball–May 5, 1 p.m., versus James Madison at George Mason Field
