George Mason Celebrates Student-Athlete Day Tomorrow

The Athletics Department will be participating in National Student-Athlete Day tomorrow with a visit to the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and by publishing spotlight features on student-athlete achievement in the classroom and the community.
George Mason student-athlete achievement in the classroom and the community include the GMU NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program, the NCAS (National Consortium for Academics and Sports) Giant Steps program, the George Mason Peer Athlete Liaison program, and community service functions. The activities are directed by Nena Rogers, GMU CHAMPS/Life Skills coordinator.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Council, a 28-member group of selected George Mason sport representatives, will visit youngsters in Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children’s Child Life Education center. Beginning the week of April 7, GMUsports.com will publish spotlight features on student-athlete achievement.
National Student-Athlete Day honors student-athletes and the network of parents, coaches, teachers, and school systems that makes it possible for young people to strike a balance between academic and athletic achievement.
