WETA-TV, in partnership with George Mason, presents a broadcast of Robinson Professor Paul D’Andrea’s adaptation of Nathan the Wise on Saturday, April 6, at 9 p.m., and Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m. The play, a new adaptation of G.E. Lessing’s classic play about religious tolerance, was produced last fall by George Mason’s professional theater company, the Theater of the First Amendment (TFA).
Set in Jerusalem during the truce of Saladin, which brought an end to the bloodshed of the Third Crusade, this production was recently nominated for the prestigious Charles MacArthur Award for best new play, part of the Helen Hayes Award Program.
