April Employee of the Month Diane Judson is a support technician for Student Health Services, “a title that fails to adequately describe the numerous day-to-day tasks that she performs so well,” says Mary Ann Braun, director of the Health and Wellness Center.

Judson came to George Mason from a temp agency in January 2000 during a hectic time for Student Health Services and immediately took on a leadership role that she maintains today. Judson quickly learned to process the many facets of the front desk where she receives patients. In addition, she manages specialty clinics that provide flu shots for faculty, students, and staff. “Even the most experienced become flustered at this time of year, but not Diane,” says coworker Carol Tilah.

Judson orients new students to the routine of Student Health Services. Her colleagues say she is patient and informative as she explains the duties. “Diane has been truly a lifesaver from the moment of her arrival, ” says Diane Skwisz, a family nurse practitioner and coworker. “She brings new meaning to the words multi-tasking.”

According to her nomination letters, Judson is able to greet chaos with a smile while simultaneously training new workers, sharing her computer expertise, and responding to increased administrative requests. All the while she ensures that service and care for the patients is not compromised.
