CFA Welcomes Back National Acrobats of Taiwan

With a 5,000-year-old tradition, the cultural rhythm of China is deliberate and historically vibrant. The characteristics of its people–perseverance, simplicity, and enthusiasm–are molded by this centuries-old development. Using this rich history as a template, illustrating movements with the sounds and images found in nature, the National Acrobats of Taiwan, Republic of China. return to the Center for the Arts (CFA) Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.
Backed by a New Age instrumental music soundtrack of exotic music, a silk-screened backdrop, and special effects, including smoke and fireworks, the company goes through their breathtaking paces with aplomb, leaving the audience gasping and amazed by their feats of contortion, balance, and sheer defiance of gravity.
Generally considered the foremost company of its kind from all of China, the graduates of The National Fu Hsing Dramatic Arts Academy have toured the world as the republic’s national acrobatic troupe. Their mission is to make traditional folk acrobatic arts versatile and accessible, and their performances spread Chinese culture, promote folk arts, and establish cultural exchanges with other countries.
