Men’s Basketball Team Ends Regular Season with Win, Second Place

In Monday’s final game of the regular season, the men’s basketball team beat Old Dominion 78-63, clinching second place in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Patriots finished 19-8 and 13-5 in the conference.
The Patriots raced out to a 12-2 lead in the opening minutes of the game, but trailed at the half 31-29. The game remained neck-and-neck through much of the second half, with the Patriots never gaining more than a 4-point lead. However, George Mason broke the game open midway through the second half, outscoring the Monarchs 19-8 in the final eight minutes.
The Patriots were led by a career-high 25 points from Rob Anderson, who also recorded a career-high six 3-pointers made. Jesse Young added a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. George Mason now heads to the CAA Tournament where the team will play on Saturday at 6 p.m. The winner of the tournament advances to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
