The Book Club has decided to read Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media
Distorts the News by Bernard Goldberg for its next meeting on Tuesday, March 19, at 5 p.m. on the third floor of the Johnson Center.
Just released, this book looks at examples of liberal bias in mainstream media. Having served for nearly 30 years as a reporter and producer for CBS, Goldberg examines the politics of the media and has a real ax to grind with Dan Rather. Recently, President George W. Bush was pictured in the Washington Post carrying the book.
In April, the club will read Kenneth Miller’s Finding Darwin’s God: A Scientist’s
Search for Common Ground Between God and Evolution. Miller, a distinguished biologist, describes himself as a devout Christian but one who believes strongly in evolution. His book challenges both sides of the debate and argues that science and religion offer different but compatible ways of viewing the world.
