Introspective Artist Holds Discussion, Reception Thursday

Introspective, 20 years of prints and paperwork by Washington, D.C.-based artist Georgia Deal, has been on exhibit since Jan. 21 in the gallery spaces on the Fairfax Campus. A discussion and reception with the artist will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery. The galleries are open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Deal is an artist who has made prints and worked in handmade paper for the past 25 years. She has been at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington for the past 16 years, and has chaired the Printmaking Department for 12. Deal started and cultivated the Corcoran’s Papermaking and Book Arts programs and conducts workshops in print and paper media both nationally and abroad.
Deal has been awarded residencies at the Yaddo Foundation, Saratoga Springs; Lakeside Studios, Michigan; and the University of Georgia. She recently curated an international portfolio and traveling show of prints scheduled to be exhibited through 2002. Deal’s works are in the collections of The Philadelphia Museum, The Corcoran Museum of Art, and the Phillip Morris collection, among others.
