George Mason will be celebrating “Patriot Knights” as the theme for this year’s 2002 Homecoming celebration which culminates with the men’s basketball contest against Drexel on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. in the Patriot Center. The event is preceded by an appearance from the “The Sports Junkies” radio personalities.
The Sports Junkies from WJFK will be signing autographs on the Patriot Center concourse from 1 to 2 p.m. and also are scheduled to appear at the pre-game block party.
The Junkies are a nationally syndicated talk show on Westwood One Radio and can be heard on more than 40 affiliates across the nation. Sports Illustrated has dubbed them “America’s hot new radio show.”
The game will include a halftime recognition of the Athletics Hall of Fame and will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet TV. The Hall of Fame, which had been dormant since the late 1970s, will include seven members who were enshrined during that decade. Also, a Hall of Fame constitution and criteria will be announced, kicking off an annual campaign of candidate review for induction.
More information on Homecoming 2002 will be published in the Daily Gazette tomorrow.
