Betty Andrews, administrative and program specialist in the Student and Academic Services Department at the Prince William Campus, is the February Employee of the Month. She began working at George Mason in late 1997 when the Prince William Campus first opened.
“During Betty’s time at Prince William, we have found her to be an articulate, intelligent, and selfless person, and have been impressed with her ability to both collaborate with and learn from everyone with whom she has contact,” says Heather Groves Hannan, head of the Prince William Campus Library.
As program support technician, Andrews interacts with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to help fulfill their needs. “Betty supports a team of professional staff who represent many service areas including Events Management, Information Services, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounts,” says Tracy Seffers, enrollment services manager for the Prince William Campus. “Each area requires a different level of support from Betty at different times in the academic cycle, and she never misses a beat, helping each of us with professionalism, good humor, and exacting personal standards.”
“Betty is often the first point of contact at the Prince William Campus for incoming and current students,” says Ruth Potter, educational program practitioner in the Initiatives in Educational Transformation program. “I couldn’t think of a better person for the first impression of our university. She is both professional and caring (with a heart of gold).”
