GMU-TV Earns Communicator Awards

The new year means good news for GMU-TV. The university’s television station kicks off 2002 with two talk shows and a telecourse bringing home honors from the international Communicator Awards competition.
Mason Sidelines, GMU-TV’s sports talk show hosted by Ron Sinacore, Mickey McDade, Morrie Scherrens, and Mike Tapscott received an Award of Distinction. The show is produced and directed by Richard Wood and edited by Heather Bailey.
Also winning an Award of Distinction is GMU-TV’s telecourse, Virginia Journeys with Charlie Grymes. It is produced by Rich Eggleton, directed by Susan Kehoe, and edited by Richard Wood. GMU-TV’s Tech Horizons, hosted by Lloyd Griffiths and produced and directed by Steve Watson, was awarded an honorable mention.
The Communicator Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. This year’s competition featured 3,401 entries from 47 states, Washington, D.C., and 11 other countries.
