The University Homecoming Committee is challenging university departments, offices, schools, and colleges to compete in the Homecoming Spirit Competition. Events include office decorating, medieval theater, a banner contest, and Gunston’s Dungeon of Ill Fate. Tomorrow is the last day to register for the office decorating portion of the contest.

The events give participants the chance to earn spirit points. The group that earns the most spirit points receives a trophy, plaque, and office pizza party. Second place winners receive a plaque and candy-filled goodie bag. Third place winners receive a plaque.

The events are planned from Jan. 31 to Feb. 13. Competitors will start with office decorating and move on to “Caught With Mason Spirit” in which participants are presented with beads if they demonstrate exceptional school spirit. Though the beads are not worth spirit points, they are still part of the general merriment that makes up the homecoming activities. The rest of the events will follow through the week. More details will be published in the Daily Gazette next week.
