The university’s new hotline, 993-HELP, strengthens campus safety by providing students easy access to the Motorist Assistance Program, Student Escort Service, and the University Police nonemergency line. Previously, each service had a separate phone number, but the 993-HELP automated operator allows for a touchtone connection to the needed service.
Since its implementation last September, the program has been very successful and helped to improve service. “But our greatest accomplishment so far has been giving the students one less thing to worry about,” says Benn Crandall, Office of the Senior Vice President, who coordinated the program. “Now they only need to remember one number to get the services they need.”
Various promotional displays that include hotline information will be distributed to the university community during the spring semester.
