Concerned about healthy eating? George Mason Dining Services is responding to requests for more ethnic choices and healthy eating options at the university and has introduced a new Bistro Lunch Bar. The bar features both diverse and healthy selections, focusing on the three keys to nutrition: balance, variety, and moderation, according to Lisa McGary, Dining Services nutritionist.
The Bistro Bar is available for $4.25 Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the following theme days:
Mondays: Pasta Bar
Tuesdays: Hot Sub Bar
Wednesdays: Rice Bar
Thursdays: Down Home Bar
Fridays: Exhibition Cooking Bar
All of the items featured in the Bistro Bar can fit into your healthy meal planning. For example, Wednesday’s Rice Bar offers selections including brown rice, curried vegetables, and lemon ginger stir-fry. Each bar offers low-fat choices, such as egg noodles with mushrooms, grilled veggie sub, and omelets that can be made with egg whites.
