Neamo Named CAA Player of the Week

George Mason women’s basketball player Vernessa Neamo was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 28.
Neamo, a sophomore forward, averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2 blocks in leading the Patriots to victories over Atlantic 10 opponents George Washington and Fordham last week.
In the 70-67 win over George Washington, Neamo matched her career-high of 22 points and grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. She added 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals, while playing the entire 40 minutes. Against Fordham, Neamo had 10 points and recorded a team-high 6 rebounds along with 3 assists, 1 block, and 2 steals in the 65-60 win. For the week, she shot 13 of 23 from the field for 56.5 percent.
Neamo ranks second on the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game and leads the team in rebounding at 8.7 per game. She also leads the team in steals (20), blocks (12), and field goal percentage (.441).
