Researchers Hope Balloon Ride Will Teach Geese to Migrate

Thomas Wood, an assistant professor of conservation studies at

George Mason University and a research associate with the Smithsonian Institution, said the experiment could help researchers learn more about how birds migrate. ‘We don’t know much about the mechanisms that are involved’ in birds’ migration patterns, Wood said. ‘It is certainly a unique experiment.'”

Researchers Can Identify the Eureka Moment

James L. Olds, a university professor of neuroscience at George Mason University, said every year brings more evidence of the many ways the brain works away on problems even when we are not consciously aware of it. The classic example, Olds said, is motor learning, where someone improves a golf stroke or tennis serve by practicing, but is not conscious of the lessons being learned. More recent work suggests the same is true with higher learning.”
