The Music Department offers two performances for the George Mason community this weekend. A faculty recital begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Harris Theatre and a holiday concert, “Sounds of the Season,” begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the Concert Hall.
The free faculty recital features George Stoffan, clarinet; Marie-France Lefebvre, piano; and Joan Hovda, cello.
“Sounds of the Season” features the George Mason symphony orchestra and choruses with Anthony Maiello, Stan Engebretson, and Betty-Ann Lynerd conducting. Joseph Kanyan, who retires in January, will guest conduct. Music will include celebration fanfare, Christmas sketches, festive sounds of Hanukah, Russian Christmas music, and selections from Handel’s Messiah. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the box office or by calling (703) 218-6500. One hundred free tickets are available for George Mason students.
