George Mason freshman goalkeeper John O’Hara has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year for men’s soccer, and he joins sophomore teammates forward Charlie Snee and defender Keith Nakai in being named to the All-CAA second team.

O’Hara becomes the first Patriot in the 17-year history of the CAA to be named the conference’s Rookie of the Year. Only two other George Mason players have earned a major award from the CAA–the league Player of the Year award went to Tamir Linhart in 1992 and John Ferrandino in 1995.

Playing every minute in goal this season, O’Hara has a 1.53 goals against average and 57 saves in 17 games. His career-best total of 9 saves against top-ranked Southern Methodist in the season opener on Aug. 31 is tied for the best effort in the CAA this year.

Snee led George Mason with 12 points and tied for the team lead at 5 goals, and had two assists. Nakai has been an anchor in the Patriot defense all season.
