To provide its men’s basketball fans with more options than ever to follow the Patriots, the Athletic Department announced that it has expanded the George Mason Television, Radio, and Internet Network for the 2001-02 basketball season.
The Patriots will partner with Comcast SportsNet TV, formerly Home Team Sports (HTS), located in Bethesda, Md; WDCT, 1310 AM Radio in Fairfax; WGMU on the Fairfax Campus; and YahooSports and Teamline services.
On television, the men’s team will appear at least twice on Comcast SportsNet. On Saturday, Feb. 2, the Patriots play James Madison, and on Saturday, Feb. 16, Drexel visits the Patriot Center, where the men are 32-4 in the past three seasons. The women appear at least once as they welcome Virginia Commonwealth University on Sunday, Feb. 24.
On the radio side, WDCT returns for a second season as a network affiliate, allowing fans to follow the Patriots anywhere in Fairfax County and much of the surrounding area. With a 5,000-watt signal during daylight hours, WDCT can be heard as far east as Prince George’s County, Md., and as far west as Fauquier County, Va. WGMU will continue to be the network flagship station.
Fans of men’s basketball will be able to follow the Patriots over the Internet via two audio streaming sites. YahooSports.com will carry all games utilizing streaming audio over the Internet. WGMU will also offer live streaming audio on its website (users must have Internet Explorer). For those without a computer, fans will still be able to follow the Patriots with the help of Teamline, a declining-rate telephone service.
