Three George Mason freshman wrestlers have been selected to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason All-Rookie Team for the 2001-02 season.
Named to the 10-person team were Aaron Suranofsky in the 125-pound weight class, P.J. Ross at 174 and John Davis at 184. Each wrestler is currently projected to be in George Mason’s starting lineup this season.
Four NCAA qualifiers return to lead George Mason (8-4 overall, 2-1 in the CAA last year) into this season, including defending CAA champions Matt Hunckler (133) and Sean Early (157), both juniors, and sophomore Tony Howard (165). Junior Adrian Austin (149) placed second at the CAA Championships last year and earned a wild card berth for the NCAA Championships, and Howard was the CAA Rookie of the Year.
