Memorial Service Today Honors Sept. 11 Victims

President Alan Merten and Robinson Professor Roger Wilkins are among the participants at a ceremony marking the one-month anniversary of the Sept. 11 tragedy, today at 4 p.m. at the Johnson Center South Plaza. The entire campus community is invited to attend this event, titled “George Mason University Community: Reflection and Remembrance for September 11.”
In addition to remarks by Merten and Wilkins, there are also student readings and music performed by the Department of Music.
Beginning at noon, CommUNITYFEST 2001 is held to help raise funds for 911Fund4Relief, a charity established to provide financial assistance to those who lost loved ones on Sept. 11. Several student organizations are participating in the event, and live music will be provided throughout the day. Sponsored by the Program Board, it is also held on the Johnson Center South Plaza.
The Prince William Campus community is invited to attend a ceremony at 10 a.m. in the PWI Cafe. The event features remarks by Merten and Executive Vice President Randall Edwards, readings by students, and music offerings from staff members.
