George Mason announces its annual Family Weekend, “Great Families Make Mason,” Oct. 12-14. Parents of undergraduates are invited to attend the weekend’s events on campus and throughout the area. The program includes a breakfast with President Alan Merten, Provost Peter Stearns, and academic deans; lectures by George Mason faculty members; and university program highlights.
The schedule begins with check-in tomorrow from 8 to 9 p.m., or Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Johnson Center Ground Floor Lobby. Following registration Friday evening, the movie Fast and Furious will be shown at the Johnson Center Cinema, and families are invited to attend “Freestyle Mason Midnight Madness” at 10:45 p.m. in the Patriot Center.
After check-in Saturday morning, Merten will host a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. in the Johnson Center Atrium, and a Patriot parent welcome follows at 10 a.m. Participants may choose one of three Mason Highlight sessions from 10:30 to 11:20 a.m., including “George Mason University Master Plan” and “E-Commerce Benefits and Challenges.” Three more sessions are offered at 11:30 a.m.
At 12:30 p.m., a University Life lunch takes place in Ciao Hall. The event closes with four Academic Spotlight sessions from 2 to 3 p.m.
Parents and students are admitted free to all programs except Saturday’s lunch in Ciao Hall. For more information, contact the Orientation Office at x32475 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
