New Program Announced to Enhance Job Performance

The University Equity Office and the Human Resources Department have created the Knowledge and Skills Co-op service–a searchable, web-based program designed to enhance job performance of university employees. The program is intended to encourage impromptu and informal sharing of skills and knowledge among university personnel, and to complement existing resources.
The Knowledge and Skills Co-op provides a list of George Mason volunteers who are experienced in specific subject areas, such as computer software and languages, internal policies and procedures, and general business skills. It also has links to various departmental web sites that have detailed information about specific subject areas, and links to internal and external training resources.
The purpose of the program is to help build bridges between departments, encourage personal growth and development among employees, and provide an outlet for employees to share their areas of expertise.
Any employee may volunteer for the program, with permission from his or her supervisor, by registering online. Volunteers may specify times when they are available during their regular work hours by either phone or e-mail; indicate their proficiency in certain areas, and periodically update their information.
