In a unique partnership between both athletic departments, the George Mason and James Madison rivalry will now be bigger and better with the introduction of the “Uproar Series.” The series will track the rivalry between the two programs as they compete against one another in numerous sports. Points are awarded for each win, with the overall points champion receiving the traveling Uproar Cup at the end of the year.

The Patriots and Dukes, located just 95 miles apart, annually meet head-to-head in 18 sports: men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, wrestling, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s volleyball, lacrosse, softball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, golf, men’s and women’s track, and men’s and women’s cross country.

The first official contest in the Uproar Series is Oct. 9 when the women’s volleyball programs meet in Harrisonburg. Series results and information on upcoming Uproar events will be available at www.gmusports.com.
