George Mason holds a candlelight vigil tonight at 6:30 p.m. on the Johnson Center North Plaza. The program, intended to promote diversity and understanding at the university, will include student speakers from the Afghan Club, Arab Students Association, Muslim Students Association, Indian Students Association, and Pakistani Students Association.
Sumaiya Hamdani, a Muslim faculty member in the History and Art History Department, will address the humanitarian issues revolving around the tragedy. Brian Cadogan, an African-American student, will also discuss the connection between black racial profiling and the increasing hate crimes directed at Arabs, Muslims, and Afghans.
