“2001 Convocation: The Next Six Years” is set for tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center Multipurpose Room. At this meeting, which is open to the entire university community, President Alan Merten and Provost Peter Stearns will unveil Plan 2007, a comprehensive look at where George Mason will be six years from now.
Student enrollment, state funding, the university’s private endowment, faculty/student ratio, research dollars, and university expansion will be among the topics discussed at the convocation.
“In order for George Mason to be successful, we as a university must be unified. In order to be unified, we must be bound by the same vision. Our objective with the 2001 Convocation is to capture that spirit and reaffirm those ties that bind us all,” says Merten.
New faculty members will be introduced at the convocation, along with many of the individuals who represent the primary segments of the university community, including students, staff, faculty, alumni, the Board of Visitors, and the foundation’s Board of Trustees.
