On Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m., renowned pianist Jeffrey Siegel returns to the Center for the Arts with his most recent “concert with commentary,” Keyboard Conversations: Music for the Young and Young-at-Heart. The special program, designed to introduce new, young minds to the pleasures of the great musical masters, includes Mozart’s variations on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Beethoven’s popular Für Elise, Bartók’s humorous Diary of a Fly, and Flight of the Bumblebee.
In addition to his appearances as soloist, recitalist, and conductor, Siegel presents this unique concert-plus-commentary format, in which he speaks to the audience about the music prior to performing each work in its entirety. Siegel discusses each of the pieces he plays, including enough musicology and anecdotes about the composers to entertain music novices and seasoned listeners alike.
Tickets for Music for the Young and Young-at-Heart are $20. Children’s tickets are half price. Charge by phone at (703) 218-6500 or visit www.tickets.com.
