The School of Information Technology and Engineering (IT&E) has received accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Inc. (ABET) for all of its undergraduate programs without any provisions.
Lloyd Griffiths, dean of IT&E, notes it is rare for an engineering program to be accredited without provisions.
In a section dealing with institutional strengths, the ABET report noted that IT&E “…is dedicated to an innovative and imaginative undergraduate curriculum. It is commendable that the administration is committed to continue to build a strong, entrepreneurial facility that is academically competent and that is not constrained by conventional academic boundaries.”
The report also commented on the positive job outlook for the school’s graduates and the many internship resources available to students during their academic careers. Another strength listed was the leadership of Griffiths, who “has the creative instincts to make this school a leader in information technology in the commonwealth and the nation.”
