George Mason University retained its third tier placement in this year’s ranking among America’s best colleges, according to the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report. The magazine annually ranks every university in the nation, and the third tier contains schools placed between 116 and 171. As it did last year, George Mason scored 2.9 out of a possible 5.0.

The University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary are listed in the first tier; Virginia Tech is listed in the second tier; George Mason and Virginia Commonwealth University are in the third tier; and Old Dominion University is in the fourth tier.

The magazine uses 12 different measures to rank the schools. For more information, visit U.S. News and World Report’s website.
