Welcome Week, Classes Begin Today

Classes begin today at all three campuses as George Mason welcomes faculty, staff, and students with information fairs, receptions, refreshments, movies, and music as part of its Welcome Week 2001 festivities. All events take place under the Welcome Week tent on the Johnson Center North Plaza unless otherwise noted.
The week gets started with a Breakfast Bash hosted by the Student Senate and Faculty Senate this morning at 8 a.m. on the Fairfax Campus. Students who attend have the opportunity to meet student government officials and faculty leaders. Caricatures are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and an afternoon snack attack begins at 4 p.m.
A second Breakfast Bash on Tuesday at 8 a.m. gives participants the chance to “hang out” with student athletes. Global Nomad Programs and Services sponsors a welcome reception for expatriate and repatriating students from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Johnson Center, Room G. The Prince William Campus hosts a variety of activities in the PWI Lobby, including breakfast treats at 8:30 a.m., technology services for students from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a welcome-back cake at 11:30 a.m., and snacks from 6 to 8 p.m.
A Virginia coalition concert begins at 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the Johnson Center Multipurpose Room. Thursday is Patriots Day and features free funnel cakes, snow cones, and cotton candy from noon to 4 p.m. The Arlington Campus hosts a barbecue from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot outside the original building.
Movie lovers are invited to watch Pearl Harbor Friday night at 9 p.m. in the Johnson Center Cinema. From midnight to 2 a.m., free food and entertainment are available in the lower level of SUB I. This event takes place the first Friday of every month.
