New Student Days, Resident Move-In Begin Tomorrow

Approximately 1,300 new resident students will move in to Presidents Park tomorrow, and another 2,000 upperclassmen will move on to campus Saturday and Sunday as 2001 New Student Days kicks off. Tomorrow’s activities take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and President Alan Merten will greet new students in Presidents Park from 9 to 11 a.m. A barbecue, served by members of the faculty and staff, follows from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Quad.
Students will stay busy Friday night with residence meetings and free entertainment in the Game Room at 7 p.m. The evening is capped off with a Deck Party at 9 p.m. on top of the Parking Deck.
The action-filled weekend continues Saturday when students can tour local shopping malls throughout Fairfax from 2 to 6 p.m. Casino Night from 9 to 11 p.m. in SUB I gives residents the opportunity to win prizes and test their luck at games with play money.
Sunday features the 2001 Barbecue Odyssey from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in Presidents Park, followed by an ice cream social. The weekend closes with an outdoor movie in the park at 9 p.m.
