The School of Management (SOM) has created a new minor in management for nonbusiness students. Available in spring 2002, the minor draws on core management courses to provide a broad exposure to business concepts and theories for students who wish to enhance their own area of expertise. This broad exposure includes a strong emphasis on communication and information technologies, entrepreneurial thinking, and the social and cultural aspects of global business. It highlights the management of technology-induced organizational change and focuses on the impact of information technologies in transforming industries.
The minor in management includes 15 credit hours in courses such as managing financial resources, managing people and organizations, managing with information technology, marketing in a digital world, as well as starting and managing the enterprise, and managing the global economy. Although these classes will not be offered until the spring 2002, students can declare the minor in the fall and begin prerequisite course work.
