Build Your Technology and Teaching Expertise (BYTE) Week is Aug. 20-24 at the Fairfax Campus. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to develop technology expertise before the start of the fall semester by signing up for one or more of the 52 workshops offered.
Once again, there are tracks available on web site planning and creation and on online instruction. Individuals completing four workshops for each track and meeting the track requirements will receive a certificate and Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
In addition to the usual extensive offerings on computer applications and web pages, there will also be workshops on “Creating Effective Research Assignments,” presented by the library, “How to Respond to Difficult and Distressed Students,” and “Learning Styles and Teaching Styles,” offered by the Counseling Center, and “Sex, Lies, and Plagiarism for Faculty” presented by the Copyright Office. There will also be a one-hour demonstration workshop on the Mason Enterprising Messaging Online e-mail system. Most workshops last two to three hours.
The workshops are free, but registration is required. To view all the listings and register online, visit the BYTE week web site. Questions can be addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or call x33515.
