SOS Helps Out Local Elementary Schoolers

Local elementary school students whose families cannot afford to purchase basic school supplies have a new group of friends–George Mason students, faculty, and staff members. Supply Our Students (SOS), a fund raising group founded with the needs of these children in mind, is asking members of the university community to buy extra school supplies for distribution to elementary schools throughout the area. All supplies will be delivered to the schools’ principals, who will distribute them to children who receive free or reduced-cost lunches.
Collection boxes will be located on the Arlington, Fairfax, and Prince William Campuses from August 13 through September 7. For specific drop-off locations and a list of needed supplies, visit the SOS web site or call Lori Petterson, fundraising coordinator, at x38887.
