Beverly H. Davis is the director of graduate admissions, a new position responsible for recruiting graduate students, coordinating the process of graduate applications, and designing university-wide graduate publications. She began on July 23.
“Ms. Davis has the kind of enthusiasm and marketing savvy we were seeking for this position, and I’m confident she’ll help us move graduate recruitment to a new level,” says Provost Peter Stearns.
Stearns outlined the goals for the new position as establishing better procedures for public information about the university’s graduate programs, better marketing, and increased enrollment. “The university needs a central place where potential students can call for information on all the graduate programs,” says Stearns.
Davis was formerly the marketing recruitment manager for the School of Public Affairs at American University, where she developed and managed successful marketing and recruitment plans for the school’s graduate programs. In addition, she has more than 10 years of experience in advertising and public relations with a private firm.
“I see myself working with the academic units on their marketing and recruitment plans,” says Davis. “We are faced with a challenge of trying to increase graduate enrollment while our target market of 25-to-44-year-olds is decreasing.”
