George Mason’s Employee Assistance Line is now in its 10th month. Created in October 2000 to provide university employees with an outlet to make suggestions for improvement at George Mason, express concerns they might have, and report instances of alleged fraud, waste, and abuse, this internal hotline has not yet been “ringing off the hook,” says Ken Hubble, internal audit director.
Since its inception, according to Hubble, the employee assistance line has averaged a little over one call per month. “It is our hope that employees will utilize this service,” he says. He notes that the employee assistance line is not intended to be a replacement for the State of Virginia’s employee hotline. Rather, it is meant to be an additional option for George Mason employees.
The toll-free line is available 24 hours a day by calling 1-866-GMU-1706.
