George Mason President Alan Merten and Stephen Fuller, professor of public policy, have been singled out by Washington Business Forward magazine as being among the “40 most important people in Washington business.” These individuals, the magazine said, have “influence on business in their industries and the community beyond the scope of their job titles…(and) who will be shaping the region’s economic future.”

Merten was praised for placing George Mason “at the center of the Northern Virginia technology universe.” Few administrators, the magazine added, “have figured out a way to leverage technology to the extent that Merten has.”

Fuller was cited for his ongoing research on the region’s economy. “If you need a number,” the magazine says, “Fuller is your guy.”
