Marcy Robey, Information Technology and Engineering (IT&E) at the Prince William Campus, is the July Employee of the Month. Robey, a business manager for the Professional Education Program (PEP), started working at George Mason in November 1999. “Marcy has been an invaluable force in getting the new Professional Education Program Office in IT&E organized and smoothly interfaced with several George Mason functions,” says Eugene Norris, director of PEP.
As business manager, chief of staff, and assistant to the director of PEP, Robey wears many hats and juggles many responsibilities. “I like the fact that every day is a little different for me,” Robey says. “We do technical training and we have to keep up with the latest technology and the needs of our students and area businesses. It’s very fast paced.”
Robey relied on her years of small business experience to quickly learn about George Mason, the Prince William Campus, the intricacies of the university system, and state regulations. The ease with which she tackled this process helped her to become an invaluable member of PEP. “It is no exaggeration to say that I could not do my job without her,” says Norris.
In the many letters supporting her nomination, Robey is praised as a dedicated and resourceful employee, who “is not only a team player, but a team builder as well,” says Norris. Robey also worked closely with Norris and the Office of Continuing Professional Education to develop the Train to Technology program.
