Mason Softball Player Earns All-State Honors

George Mason outfielder Linda Young has been named first-team All-Virginia in a vote by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.
The junior led the Patriots in hitting with a .327 batting average and 28 runs batted in. She hit 13 doubles, one triple, two home runs, and had nine stolen bases, while tallying a .462 slugging percentage. Young started all 49 games in center field and notched a .964 fielding percentage.
The Patriots, led by head coach Beth Fulcher, finished with a 22-27 record and return all 13 letter-winners from the 2001 team.
