Wendy Wagner, office manager in the Controller’s Office, has been named June Employee of the Month.
During her four years as an employee in the office, Wagner’s organization, professionalism, and motivation have helped her excel in her career and established her as a valuable asset to George Mason’s community.
Wagner began her career at Mason as a wage employee in the Controller’s Office and was promoted to senior executive assistant. Now, as office manager, her responsibilities include preparing and scheduling meetings for her manager, which ensures a smooth flow of the office’s daily operations. “Wendy sets high expectations for herself and constantly stretches to improve,” says Beth Brock, controller of the university. “She is quick, flexible, and competent, and she always has her supervisor’s best interests in mind.”
For Wagner, the best part of working at Mason is “seeing how much the leadership of this university cares about its employees and includes them in working to form a community.” Her supervisors repeatedly commend her organization, ability to prioritize, and helpful demeanor in greeting students and parents in need of assistance.
Before coming to George Mason in 1997, Wagner worked as a secretary in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon.
